Demo of hoeing/mechanical weed control in arboriculture

Learning network Natuurinclusief Betuws Boeren and Tree Centre Opheusden are organising a field demonstration of mechanical weed control at Crum boomkwekerijen in Dodewaard especially for fruit growers and tree nurseries on the evening on 11 May.

Nature-inclusive working in the orchard means utilising natural capital. But many fruit growers or tree nurseries do prefer the strip beneath the trees to have as little growth as possible. It’s a challenge to do this effectively with little or no use of chemicals.

Fortunately, there are more and more manufacturers of machinery for mechanical weed control, such as mechanical hoes and (finger) weeders. And more and more growers are using them.
